Grandes-Rousses — Avalanche Forecast
Danger by Elevation
LAST BULLETIN OF THE SEASON: OFTEN STABLE SNOW COVER Spontaneous releases: Unlikely. Triggered releases: Unlikely, or possibly a rare wet slide beneath skis when cutting a very steep and warmed slope. Last bulletin of the season. The Grenoble team wishes you a pleasant summer! See you next year!
Snowpack qualification: The snow cover is rather deficient for the season. After a fairly well snowed winter core, the melting of the snowpack was particularly rapid in spring, with a hot and dry April, and a scorching late May... Snowfall episodes associated with the cool early May period were only a short-lived respite for the snowpack. A few slopes remain skiable at altitude, but require a long carry. Skiable limits: 2400/2600 m in North couloirs. 2800 / 2900 m in South. On foot, numerous névés still present from 2000 / 2200 m in North. Snow quality Monday: Nighttime refreezing quite good at altitude. Rapid humidification expected Monday during the day.
